17th September 2005

Day Ten 17th September 2005 - Aust to Monmouth.  We drove to Aust then cycled over the Severn Bride and met Mummy near Chepstow, up through the Wye Valley to have lunch at Tintern Abbey then finished at Monmouth.  21.4 miles.

Day Eleven 24th September 2005 - Monmouth to Leominster.  It took nearly all morning to climb out of Monmouth but we made it almost to Hereford for lunch then after lunch through Hereford and onto Wellington then another steep hill to Queenswood Country Park, then a short downhill to Leominster to finish. 31miles.

Day Twelve 15th October 2005 - Leominster to Shrewsbury.  We realized Henry’s coat was at home so had to buy new one before setting off from Leominster.  We had lunch at Craven Arms then cycled through Church Stretton on to Shrewsbury.  37.5 miles.

Day Thirteen 4th November 2005 - Shrewsbury to Whitchurch. When we got to Shrewsbury it was pouring with rain but still we cycled! We had lunch at Hadnall then after lunch cycled to Tesco’s at Whitchurch.  24.9miles.

Day Fourteen 5th November 2005 - Whitchurch to Warrington. Pouring with rain again we cycled into Cheshire, we had lunch in a mans garden and he brought out a pot of tea and lemonade for us! After lunch we cycled to Middlewich as the A49 was closed.  Mummy got lost and a nice lady called Vanessa went to find her, while Daddy and Henry waited!  31.1 miles.

Day Fifteen 6th November 2005 - Warrington to Wigan.  We had a late start on the bike as it was raining and we went to look for some better waterproofs for Henry!  When we set off from Warrington we met some people walking their dogs.  We had lunch at Newton.  Mummy got lost again near Haydock and we had to turn back to find her!  Then onto Wigan where we met Mummy at the Asda store.  26.3 miles.

Day Sixteen – 7th November 2005 - Wigan to Lancaster.  A good day for cycling today, we cycled out of Wigan then on towards Preston, where there wasn’t anywhere suitable for lunch until we were out the other side!  We set off after lunch and it started raining again but we managed to get to Lancaster.  40.3 miles.

Day Seventeen – 8th November 2005 - Lancaster to Kendal.  We got Henry some waterproofs today in Lancaster then cycled to Carnforth where we had to shelter in the car while a heavy storm went past.  After lunch we cycled in the rain to Kendal where we had a look round and ate a meal.  25.8 miles.

Day Eighteen – 9th November 2005 - Kendal to Penrith.   The weather was better today but we had a tough climb out of Kendal to Shap then it was pretty easy riding down to Penrith.  We went to Joanna’s house where we had tea and cake (Henry ate 4 pieces of cake!)  25.9 miles.

Day Nineteen – 10th November 2005 - Penrith to Gretna Green.   We cycled via A6 to Carlisle where Daddy went to Burger King for drinks but also got some chips!  The climb from Carlisle was hard and the wind was bad but we made it to Scotland a day earlier than planned and in daylight!  Photos were taken before we drove back to our Travelodge.  29.3 miles
